At her own consulting business, the White House, the Department of Defense, and on Capitol Hill, Amy Hickox earned a reputation for getting things done. Most recently, she provided advice to clients including Boeing, Raytheon and BellSouth. Amy worked at the White House providing strategic planning and outreach to First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton’s Millennium Council.
Ms. Hickox has served three Secretaries of Defense — first as a Special Assistant serving as the liaison with the White House and Congress for the Secretary’s office. As a member of the Senior Executive Service Program, she created and managed the Secretary’s Civil-Military Program in Reserve Affairs. As Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs, she directed a professional staff of over one hundred civilians and military officers.
Ms. Hickox also has extensive experience on Capitol Hill. As staff for the House Armed Services Committee, she helped build a coalition of support for the annual Defense Authorization Act and promoted Chairman (and later Defense Secretary) Les Aspin’s policy agenda. In earlier years, she worked as a fundraising consultant for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and on the staff of Rep. Tom McMillen (D-MD). Ms. Hickox has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Berkeley.
